The game is set in the near future, where a private military corporation ATLAS tries to restore order in the world consumed by a global conflict.

In Badland we take control over unspecified creature and our task is to lead it through levels filled with various obstacles and traps. However, the game is complicated by the fact that we are gradually joined by more of our hero's brethren, so as the game progresses we are forced to control more and more creatures.

The player-created protagonist is looking for his wife, who disappeared from their home in unexplained circumstances. Words written on the walls suggest that the woman may be in serious danger.

In contrast to the main installments of the series, the spin-off gives the player much greater freedom when it comes to the exploration of the world and selecting challenges to complete.
