Zombie Mode Removed From Battlefield 2042 Mere Day After Introduction

Battlefield 2042's problems and slip-ups continue. This time, DICE introduced a mode that worked as a machine for earning experience. Oddly, it was almost immediately pulled from the game.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Zombie Mode developed by fans, has been introduced to Battliefield 2042.
  2. However, it distrupted the game's XP-earning balance.
  3. Zombie Mode was removed just a day after its introduction, and players received Gun Game mode instead.

Battlefield 2042 recieved Zombie Mode – only to have it removed a day later. EA DICE made this decision due to the mode quickly becoming an XP farm for players. According to Justin Wiebe, a developer from Ripple Effect (the studio that works with DICE) – this module should never have appeared in the game.

As the name of the already removed mode suggests, the task of players was to fight the living dead. They were controlled by the artificial intelligence and attacked in waves. There were plenty of videos on the web, where players showed how to earn experience points as efficiently as possible.

It should be noted that Zombie Mode was developed by fans of the game, not the developers of Battlefield, DICE. This was made possible by the gameplay enhancement tools offered to the community by the Portal. It is considered one of the few things that keeps players engaged in Battlefield.

A well-known informant Tom Henderson also spoke out, calling the situation around Battlefield a"circus". Source: https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/1484531815771746304

Currently, Zombie Mode is no longer available, and in its stead, another mode has appeared – the Gun Game. According to Justin Wiebe, DICE will work to ensure that similar situations do not occur in the future. Although it's hard not to get the impression that it may be too late for changes. Quite recently, we heard about rumors concerning the transition of the game to a free-to-play model. Also, the fact that hackers abandoned development of cheats says a lot about the popularity of Battlefield 2042.
