ZED, a new project of Myst and BioShock Infinite devs, is live on Kickstarter
ZED, a new project from the creators of Myst and BioShock Infinite, is now live on Kickstarter to raise funds for development.
Eagre Games—a development studio founded and led by Chuck Carter, a man who’s worked on Myst, the Command & Conquer and Red Alert franchises, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and others—has gone to Kickstarter to raise funds for their new game entitled ZED. ZED is a non-violent Myst-like adventure puzzle title being created by, among other people, the aforementioned Chuck Carter as creative director and Joe Fielder, who was a writer for BioShock Infinite, as lead writer. So far, the production raised almost a half ($22,413) of the $48,000 goal required to successfully end the fundraiser, and it has just been a week. If the game is funded, there are several stretch goals to achieve as well; these include a VR version at $100K as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions (at $114K and $120K, respectively).
In ZED, the player will explore unique and quite original locations with rapidly shifting atmosphere, trying to solve various puzzles and help “an aging and dying Dreamer leave behind a lasting legacy for his granddaughter”. However, the Dreamer can be either a friend or an enemy since he is confused about the player’s presence and therefore may either assist in or hinder our efforts. As we progress in the story, we will learn his past and the final masterpiece of his will be eventually revealed to us in the dreams we explore.
As stated above, ZED draws inspiration from Myst. We will be exploring various kinds of environments that force us to look around carefully in search of hints or solutions to the puzzles we’ll have to tackle. The developers put it exactly as follows:

ZED is going to be powered by Unreal Engine 4. What’s interesting, you can download and play a vertical slice preview (for Windows or Mac OS) that gives you a small taste of the game’s visuals and artistic style.
