Yakuza Credits on GOG are Missing Key Developers

Seven installments of the Yakuza series have been released on GOG. Gamers have noticed that the credit roll is missing key developers and even entire studios that developed the PC ports.

A week ago, the Yakuza series hit GOG. Seven of its installments are available on the platform:

  1. Yakuza 0;
  2. Yakuza Kiwami;
  3. Yakuza Kiwami 2;
  4. Yakuza 3 Remastered;
  5. Yakuza 4 Remastered;
  6. Yakuza 5 Remastered;
  7. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

Interestingly, however, it was noted that in the credit roll of these games does not mention the following developers involved in the projects:

  1. Toshihiro Nagoshi and Daisuke Sato - respectively the main director and producer of the games, who in 2021 announced, that they were leaving Sega Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, to establish their own team - Nagoshi Studio;
  2. developers from teams Lab42 (Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami) and QLOC (the other aforementioned installments of the series), which have developed PC ports of the titles.

The discovery in question was made by a Reddit user by the handle Timo653. It is difficult to say whether we are dealing with an oversight or a deliberate act. However, the latter seems more likely, as the aforementioned individuals appeared in the "credits" in the versions of these games available on Steam.

We asked GOG's PR department for clarification on the matter. If the owners of the platform are familiar with the situation and are willing to answer us, we will publish it immediately.

It is worth adding that there are many more similar cases in the game industry. In November we informed about an intern working for Santa Monica Studio on God of War: Ragnarok, who was not named among the devs. In January, however, a similar fate met about twenty developers from Striking Distance Studios, co-developers of The Callisto Protocol.
