Yakuza 8 With Significant Novelty; Lots of Exploring to Come

Thanks to a Japanese MMA fighter, the first gameplay footage from Yakuza 8 has hit the web.

It's been almost two years since the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, so fans are hungry for new adventures.

We have known for a long time that work is underway on Yakuza 8, a new installment of Sega's popular gangster series. Until now, however, no details about this project have been officially revealed. Finally, however, we have learned a little new about the next installment of the series.

  1. The source of the information is somewhat unusual - it's Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, who shared a video of his visit to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team working on the new Yakuza.
  2. The material shows a fragment from an early version of the game, as well as statements from people involved in the development.
  3. With this, we learned that the game will feature a new city.
  4. In addition, one of the characters in the game will be played by the aforementioned Asakura.

Recall that Yakuza 8 will be a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The action will begin several years after the events of the previous part of the series, and the main character will once again be Ichiban Kasuga. The game is also expected to develop the RPG mechanics from the 7th installment.

For now, we do not know when Yakuza 8 will go on sale, or even when it will be officially revealed. We also don't know the target platforms, although it's expected to be PCs and Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles.

It is worth adding that a few months ago we learned, that in addition to Yakuza 8 Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is also working on other, as yet unannounced projects.
