Xbox Series S Said to be a Big Burden for Microsoft

According to the latest rumors, Microsoft will be subsiding a lot to Xbox Series S and Series X. All this to keep the price of the device low in the upcoming battle with Sony.

Microsoft will pay for each sold unit of Xbox Series S and X.
IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Microsoft has priced its consoles extremely attractively. Xbox Series S costs $299, and Series X $499.
  2. Such a low price results from the manufacturer subsidising the consoles.
  3. Journalist Jeff Grubb reports that Microsoft will lose the most on a unit of Xbox Series S.

Yesterday, Microsoft revealed the release date of Xbox Series X, also giving the price and additional information about the subscription option to purchase their consoles (currently only Xbox One S) as part of Xbox All Access.

The pricing of the devices has met with many positive reactions around the world. However, what is an attractive price for players may be a problem for Microsoft in the long term, as reported by VentureBeat's journalist Jeff Grubb.

The journalist, who was asked about Microsoft's move on Twitter, revealed that the Redmond giant will pay for every console sold. There were no specific amounts of money, but Grubb points out that it is highly probable that the manufacturer will pay much more for an Xbox Series S than for the stronger Xbox Series X. Of course, until the release of new consoles, this information should be treated as rumor. We will have an opportunity to see their truthfulness after November 10, when both Xboxes will be sold all over the world.
