Xbox Game Pass Will Offer Account Sharing Option
Microsoft is preparing an option for sharing Xbox Game Pass subscriptions with family members. Users in Colombia and Ireland can already test the new solution.
OThe official Xbox blog posted information about the possibility of testing a new variant of the Xbox Game Pass subscription. We are talking about the version that is supposed to enable us to share it with family members and other relatives - as is the case with Microsoft's other subscriptions. The novelty can currently only be checked out by users in Colombia and Ireland as part of the Xbox Insider program..
Xbox Game Pass family edition
Account sharing is nothing new with Microsoft's services. It already functions as part of Microsoft Office (now known as Microsoft 365), which can be purchased with a single user in mind, or as part of the Family, which can be shared with up to 5 other people. Such a subscription is, of course, more expensive.
One can assume that it will work similarly for the Xbox Game Pass service. The example given by the company says that one full month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate equals 18 days of subscription for the family version. This clearly suggests that the said plan will be more expensive, although at this point it is not known exactly by how much - price information has not been released. Even if it will cost half as much, after dividing it between 5 people, it will not be too noticeable.
It must be said that Xbox executives know how to hit the needs of consumers. Xbox Game Pass is already a very attractive solution for many users. Once the option for legal account sharing enters, it will appear even better. At this point, however, it is not known when other countries will be able to test the new option. The editors of the PC Gamer inform however, that we will learn more later this year.
A few words about the Xbox Insider program
Testing of the family variant is done by participating in the Xbox Insider program. Those who belong to it must then purchase a new plan called "Xbox Game Pass - Insider Preview" located in Microsoft's store. In all this, only the main subscription holder needs to participate in the aforementioned initiative. Other users only need a Microsoft account assigned to the corresponding country.
As for Xbox Insider, on the other hand, this is an initiative that enables us to test applications and features to hit the general public in the future. We've already written on our website about the opportunity to check out games that are set to hit Microsoft's official store. Taking part in the initiative requires downloading the Xbox Insider Hub app, and then following a few simple steps. You can find all the necessary instructions here.
