WoW Player Spends 5 Million Gold to Help Others by Serving as NPC
Player Bearded_Bear96 has decided to spend 5 million gold in WoW to buy a mount that gives others access to auction house and equipment repair. For this amount of gold, he could buy 41 tokens to extend his subscription by one month.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- One WoW player bought a mount worth 5 million gold pieces to serve as a mobile auction house and repair point;
- The game's community responded to this act with enthusiastic thanks;
- WoW also enable us to buy time chips for gold - we currently have to pay a little over 121,000 for one, which means that the amount spent on this particular mount is equivalent to three years of subscription.
In MMORPGs, sometimes one inconspicuous act can win us the favour of the community. A good example of such a situation is the behaviour of one World of Warcraft player, who spent five million gold to buy a rare mount - called Mighty Caravan Brutosaur - offering access to unique features.
The mount enables us to use the auction house and repair our equipment in almost any place. This makes it possible for Bearded_Bear96 to become a kind of NPC every time he leaves the keyboard, enabling others to put items up for sale, supervise transactions, and repair equipment without going back to town.
This is all the more important because there is no auction house in the main city of the new expansion, so performing these seemingly ordinary activities requires a time-consuming journey between locations. The example of Bearded_Beara96 shows that with a bit of kindness and cooperation the players can find a way out of troublesome situations.
It is worth noting that five million is a considerable amount of money in WoW. In the auction house in World of Warcraft, you can buy so-called chips - these are special items that enable us to gain extra time without paying a subscription. As Audball59 writes on Reddit, one such chip currently costs 121,181 gold and offers a month of fun, which is exactly as much as a subscription for which we have to pay 10.99-12.99 euros (the price is lower if we pay the yearly subscription in advance). As you can easily count, the amount spent on Mighty Caravan Brutosaur translates into 41 such chips, which is about 450-530 euros. No wonder that many users decided to thank the kind player.
Good karma returns and kindness is contagious. Other users find ways to repay Bearded_Beer - e.g. by liking his post or declaring that they will also share their unique mount with other users when they cannot play themselves.
"I feel bad when I mount to buy something or check stock prices really quick and people near me come over to use the mount. I stay on the mount waiting for them to leave before I change mounts and go. This is not near the mailbox. Thank you fellow gamers. In return for your kindness I now afk by the mailbox while I work from home. Just have to wiggle every 20 minutes but no biggie," Linkysnow writes.
