WoW Fans Criticize New Raid's Finale: 'Children's Books are More Subtle', 'I Miss Jailer'
The final cinematic of the Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope raid in World of Warcraft did not please fans and is widely criticized online. Players point out the weakness of recent stories offered by Blizzard.
The raid Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope launches in Europe today, but in the United States players were able to kill all the bosses as early as Tuesday, November 14. Thanks to this, the finale, which can be seen after defeating Fyrakk, has surfaced on the Internet. What World of Warcraft fan saw, does not fill them with optimism. According to them, the story is closer to Disney cartoons than to an epic fantasy story.
During the cinematic all the dragon aspects and Vyranoth talk about the powers they have received again. At first they do not understand how it happened, but they conclude that it is a reward from Azeroth for uniting and acting as a family.
Alextra directly mentions that this is a lesson for the future - it sounds like the moral at the end of an animated series for younger viewers. The narrative weaknesses were reproached on X by popular content creator Bellular, who at the same time mentioned that such story-building poses a threat to the announced epic The World Soul Saga.
Many fans also disliked this approach. They point out that the moral of "friendship is magic" and the general shallowing of the story suggests that Blizzard wants to attract younger people to the game, which doesn't have to be successful. Gamers were also reminded that the Dragonflight expansion was described as "Steve Danuser's child", for which WoW's director of narrative was supposed to be fully responsible, and expressed their frustration in the comments.
At the same time, Blizzard seems to be hiding Danuser, who has been silent for a very long time about the future of the game, and brings Chris Metzen to the forefront. This may give hope for more epic stories, but at the same time it creates confusion about who is actually responsible for building the story of the future World of Warcraft trilogy.
