Test Your WoW Knowledge; 3 Million Images Used for This Test

World of Warcraft fans can test their knowledge of the game with a fan project featuring more than a hundred thousand Azeroth locations.

Since last year, Grand Theft Auto 5 players can test their knowledge of locations from the (as of yet) latest installment of the GTA series. A similar project was prepared by a fan of World of Warcraft, who used some 3 million images in a test of knowledge of Azeroth locations.

The concept was inspired by the Geoguessr and is not entirely new. A similar premise was used by the developers of Where in Warcraft. However - as Reddit users point out - even after many updates it has a very modest database of locations. Meanwhile, the project available at Lostgamer offers more than 100,000 locations and, as mentioned, millions of "pictures" from Azeroth.

The rules are simple - after entering the game's website, we choose one of the available maps (even the whole of Azeroth), and then decide on additional settings, including the number of rounds and time limit. We are then show images of a random location. Our task is to indicate on the map with as much accuracy as possible where the location is from.

The game clearly appealed to fans of WoW (via Reddit), although some weren't exactly thrilled with how easy they found their favorite locations. Players also appreciated the ability to "walk" around a location, rather than just viewing a panorama like in Where in Warcraft.

The project is also expecting a sizable expansion. After all the Dragonflight expansion is just around the corner, which, according to the developers, will translate into the addition of another million images from Azeroth.
