Blizzard Warns of New Class in WoW Dragonflight; Takes Strange Method
The Dragonflight DLC will introduce a brand new class to World of Warcraft, designed for veterans of the game. The mechanics of this class are not among the simplest, so Blizzard decided to warn beginners in an intriguing way.
- To select a new class in WoW: Dragonflight, players will have to show off their ability to type the word advanced.
- The first reviews of the DLC, currently in alpha, are mixed, but there is no shortage of positive feedback.
- World of Warcraft will lose gender division and you will be able to choose the pronouns for your character.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is currently undergoing closed alpha testing, where selected players can get a glimpse of the expansion's content. One of the most interesting elements of the expansion is a new class designed for users with character at level 58 or higher.. However, you can't play with the class just like that. First, you need to perform some strange steps.
If you are advanced, spell "advanced"
Evoker raises mixed feelings among the players. On Blizzard forum we can read that the mechanics involved in playing this class are unintuitive to say the least and the most confusion is caused by spells and the way they are cast. Beginner World of Warcraft players may have trouble with mastering Evokers, so the developers have prepared special warnings.
After selecting the class, the following pop-up appears on the screen:
Then you can choose to select another class or stay with the Evoker. If you choose the second option, you will see a window with another, rather cursory information:
Only after entering this can you return to the game. The information seems cursory because of the character level required to play this class. A player at level 58 should already be familiar with the game mechanics.
Opinions on WoW: Dragonflight
The first players are already expressing their opinions about the upcoming expansion. Streamer and youtuber Asmongold speaks of Dragonflight in warm words, describing the expansion as "a step in the right direction."
Asmongold is particularly pleased with the developers' focus on refining a number of smaller elements rather than on introducing one big mechanic that no one will remember after completing the DLC. The developer notes, however, that the release is still a long way off and such aspects of the game as the revamped talent tree or the Evoker class itself still require a great deal of work.
Dragonflight will also be more inclusive
As noted on Wowhead and described on Eurogamer.net, the Dragonflight DLC will introduce one more small change to WoW. On the character creation screen, we will no longer see a choice between male and female body types. Instead, there will be an option to choose "body 1" or "body 2," with no gender division.
Dataminers have also found files suggesting that WoW will also offer options for selecting voice type (previously a single voice was assigned to each gender) and pronouns for player characters (he/him, she/her, they/them).
