BlizzCon 2023 brought us news about the new developments in World of Warcraft, including the three planned expansion that make up the story line called the Worldsoul Saga. During one of the panel discussions game's director Ion Hazzikostas revealed details of the first of them, namely The War Within. The iconic MMORPG will get a sizable makeover.

The upcoming DLC will refresh the mechanics of World of Warcraft

The expansion will introduce quick (about 15-minute) adventures known as Delves, which we will face alone or in a party of up to five people. During the course of the game we will encounter puzzles to solve, new bosses or treasures including both gold and cosmetic items. At the start, we will gain access to twelve such endgame vaults.

  • The first season will feature Brann Bronzebeard, who will become our companion during our struggles in Delves. Thanks to the possibility of personalization, we will adjust the companion to our needs, making him a character focused on healing, fighting, etc.
  • The Warbands system will facilitate gameplay for users who focus on playing with different characters. The mechanics will allow for efficient exchange of items and selected aspects of progression between characters associated with the same account - we will also not have to separately raise Brann's level or re-earn faction trust.
  • In addition, we will get access to a playable race of Earthen, forged by the Titans, which we can call the ancestors of the Dwarves. (both in terms of appearance and history). Deciding to create a new character of this race, we will gain the possibility to join the Horde or the Alliance, as well as a choice between the known classes (death knight, hunter, mage, monk, paladin, priest, rogue, shaman, sorcerer and warrior). Along with the Earthen race, the game will feature its homeland - the land of Khaz Algar.
  • One of the new mechanics presented in The War Within will be the option of deeper exploration of each class. We will receive ten talent points, which we will spend on developing three trees: profession, character and specialization. By fulfilling the appropriate conditions, we will gain access to alternative versions of well-known classes, gaining additional bonuses in the process.
