Polish studio The Farm 51 released a new update to the online shooter World War 3. The patch is numbered 0.7 and focuses on improving the technical layer of the game.
The update has moved the game from Unreal Engine version 4.19 to 4.21. The game now uses Replication Graph technology to help with large scale battles. As a result, developers can allow larger groups of players to play on servers, and at the same time the players can expect better performance and more polished online code. The new version of the engine also provides more beautiful lighting.
Patch 0.7 also reworks voice communication, including sound effects that simulate radio interference to help you feel your like a real soldier on the battlefield. The system of daily challenges was also implemented and the vehicle interface was thoroughly redesigned. In addition, the game gained a new death screen, which informs the player who killed them and from where the killing shot was fired. There were also numerous bug fixes.
All these changes sound good, but they'll probably only interest a handful of players. According to Steam Charts, yesterday, at the hottest point of the day, only 259 people played World War 3.
Let us remind that World War 3 was released in Early Access on October 20, last year. The game achieved impressive sales results, but quickly began to lose players, mainly due to the low level of technical refinement.
