Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a co-op-focused installment of the renowned FPS series debuted on the market. The game is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
The first reviews of the game are positive. PC version of Wolfenstein: Youngblood currently has an average rating of 77% on Metacritic. Generally, reviewers praise the combat, which is dynamic and varied enough that the battles with opponents are never boring. Also impressive is the way the maps are designed; they are much more vastand open than in previous installments. This is probably due to the fact that the team at Arkane, known from the Dishonored series, helped in the development of Machine Games' new work.
In addition, opponent AI is praised. The game is mainly designed for two-person co-op mode, but the AI is very good at replacing a live partner if you prefer to play alone.
But there is criticism of a weak plot. Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus have made the fans of the series accustomed to very complex scenarios, while in the newest installment of the series the only thing that counts is combat. The development system causes that if we are underleveled, the enemies can become massive bullet sponges.
The emphasis on the development system is most probably due to the fact that Wolfenstein: Youngblood has microtransactions. Everything can be unlocked with the currency gained during the game, but it requires a lot of grind, so many players will be tempted to avoid it by spending real money.
