Wolfenstein Will Get a Board Game

Polish company Archon Studio collected over half a million dollars for the development of Wolfenstein: The Board Game, a tabletop game based on the popular FPS series.

The board game will be released next year.
In a nutshell:
  1. The creators have collected almost 600 thousand dollars;
  2. The fundraiser will end tomorrow night;
  3. You have to pledge a minimum of $120 to get a copy of the game;
  4. The board game will have its premiere in August 2021.

The idea of turning a classic shooter series into a board game may seem a little bit breakneck, but the kickstarter success of Wolfenstein: The Board Game has shown that such a project can interest many people. The developers have already managed to raise $595,000, while the minimum goal was $50,000. The campaign will end tomorrow night. To get a copy of the game, you need to support the creators with at least 120 dollars.

Polish studio Archon is responsible for the project. The company has extensive experience in using Kickstarter to finance development of board games - it has a track record of successful projects such as Vanguard of War, RE-LOAD and Chronicle X. Financially, Wolfenstein: The Board Game is the biggest crowdfunding success of the team. The game is scheduled for release next August.

The board is based on the latest incarnation of the cycle, initiated by Wolfenstein: The New Order. The action takes place in an alternative version of the 1960s, at a time when the Nazis took control of most of the world. However, the plot refers to the roots of the brand. The players play the role of daredevils who go to Wolfenstein Castle to kill Hitler there.

The gameplay takes the form of a classic dungeon crawler. During the game, players will explore a castle and complete tasks. The game will allow for both firefights and stealthy approach. In addition to the main mission, Wolfenstein: The Board Game will also offer optional side challenges to get better equipment.

The content of the game box promises to be rich.

The game box will also include over eighty pawns representing heroes and enemies. The board will enable us to play solo or in a group of up to four people, and a single session should take 90-120 minutes.

In addition to the main game, the creators also plan the Old Blood expansion, which introduces elements from the FPS game of the same title, and the All-Stars add-on with new characters, opponents, items and events.
