Wo Long Will Expand Ideas From NiOh, but There Will be Differences

Thanks to an interview with developers from Team Ninja, we learned that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will offer support for DLSS, and the developers do not rule out a return to the NiOh series in the future. The developers also commented on the differences between the two brands.

One of the best games of the beginning of next year may turn out to be Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, an action RPG from the devs ofNiOh, Team Ninja. Those waiting for this title should be interested in the interview that the developers gave to Wccftech. It contains some interesting information about this project and the future of the studio.

  1. The game will put more emphasis on pure action than NiOh. Equipment will no longer play such a big role, and in order to defeat the most powerful enemies, we will have to effectively read their movements. In addition, a key mechanic will be the parrying.
  2. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will bet on missions taking place on closed maps, but the devs assure that they will offer more freedom than the locations in NiOh, thanks to the addition of jumping mechanics, among other things.
  3. The opportunity to take part in historical battles and fight alongside real characters was very much liked by players in NiOh and that's why the developers decided to apply the same solution in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
  4. The lack of a recognizable protagonist makes advertising difficult, but the developers admit with disarming honesty that their well-known characters, such as William from NiOh or Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, say little either way, so replacing them with a player-created fighter doesn't change much in terms of story.
  5. The developers gathered a lot of player feedback from the recent demo and will make improvements to the game based on that information. The demo version was available only on XSX and PS5. The devs are considering allowing owners of other platforms to check out the game, but no decisions have been made on this issue for now.
  6. The PC version will offer support for Nvidia's DLSS technology. However, the developers are not yet able to confirm whether this feature will be available from launch day or will it be added later via an update.
  7. When asked about the possibility of a NiOh 3 the devs stated that they have nothing to announce for now. However, they admitted that they know fans want a third installment, and the developers themselves would also like to make it in the future..

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is scheduled to debut on March 3, 2022 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The PC version will be sold on Microsoft Store and Steam. The game will be available through the Game Pass subscription from launch day, on both PC and XSX/S.
