Gamers Point Out Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's Poor PC Performance
The demo of the latest game from the devs of the NiOh series suffers from poor performance on PCs. Many players have complained about problems with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
A few days ago, a demo version of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was made available. This action RPG from the creators of the NiOh series has caught the interest of gamers, as on the day of the demo's release more than 57 thousand people played the game on Steam at the same time. However, in the following days the number of players decreased and oscillated between a few and 30 thousand players. Perhaps this is related to performance issues experienced in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which many PC gamers are complaining about.
Poor performance even on powerful hardware
Demo version of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on PCs faces poor performance and the power of the hardware does not matter in this case. Problems with maintaining a constant number of frames per second happen to many gamers who have powerful GPUs, such as Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or RTX 3090, and Intel Core i9 processors.
"Completely mediocre on the 3080. The second chapter runs very poorly, can display between 40 and 60 fps [...] with average framepacing. This is definitely not something you expect from a game that requires you to perform precise parrying, dodging, etc. to survive," wrote user Zafir on the ResetEra forums.
"I couldn't get a stable 60 fps with a 3070 GPU at 1080p in any [graphics - ed. note] mode. It sucks," wrote Knight in Shining Armani on ResetEra forum.
The solution could be to lower the graphics settings. Unfortunately, many players say that this does not give a significant improvement - which is probably due to the way the game's shaders are compiled. In that case, only developer intervention and patches could do something.
A similar shortcoming was faced, for example, by The Callisto Protocol at launch. PC gamers also, as in the case of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, complained about optimization problems. It is likely that in both of these cases the blame for the loss of fps largely lies with the aforementioned way of compiling shaders.
Controls issues
An affliction for many Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty players on PC is also the problem with the controls. Some people complain that the demo does not detect any controllers. There are also difficulties with mouse sensitivity and the speed at which the camera rotates - the controls can be laggy.
"There is no joy in playing this game on PC: the mouse control of the camera has not been tested (because no one would release such a demo if tests were done)," wrote user TUSK on Steam.
It seems that playing the demo of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on PC is a lottery. For while many players suffer from the problems outlined above, there are also those who have noticed none. However, this is only a demo - by the time the full version of the game is released, the developers may have fixed some of the issues.
Recall that demo of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty can be tested until March 27 on PC, PS4, PS5, XSX/S and XOne. The game will be released (on all the aforementioned platforms) on March 3.
