Windows 10 and Xbox One game refunds soon in Microsoft Store
Soon, Microsoft will make it possible for players to return Windows 10 and Xbox One games purchased in Microsoft Store, as reported by an Xbox Insider participant.
It seems that Microsoft intends to follow the example of Steam and Origin when it comes to game refunding policy, an Xbox Insider participant reported on Reddit. Players will soon be able, under certain conditions, to return digital products purchased in Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Windows 10. The conditions are pretty universal: “games and apps are eligible for self-service refunds within 14 days of purchase if you have less than 2 hours of play across all accounts”, says the official description, as captured in this screenshot:
Before you return a game you must first download and launch it at least once. Besides, Microsoft reserved its right to block the refund option for users who abuse it. Also note that DLC, season passes, and other add-ons cannot be returned.
Thanks to this new feature players will get a chance to return games that fell short of their expectations, which is a real blessing in the age of pre-orders and overhyped marketing. This will also come in handy if you happen to overestimate the performance of your rig. For now, there is no specific date when the refund service is going to launch.
