Will There Be A 3 Body Problem Season 2?
3 Body Problem is conquering Netflix. But will the Game of Thrones creators' new TV series get a season 2? We check it out.
3 Body Problem is a new sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and True Blood screenwriter Alexander Woo. With such a team on board, it was to be expected that we would get a solid adaptation of Liu Cixin's novel, and so we did. A lot of good things have been said about the production by reviewers and viewers alike, as you can check, for example, on Rotten Tomatoes.
Will there be a 3 Body Problem season 2 on Netflix?
Fans of the new TV series are certainly interested in whether 3 Body Problem will get a season 2, especially since Liu Cixin wrote several books in the series, so the material for an adaptation exists. At this point, Netflix hasn’t decided whether it will order 3 Body Problem season 2. We'll probably wait a while for an official announcement on the matter, as it's possible that the producers are waiting for broader viewing figures that they can analyze.
And how do the creators of the TV series approach the subject? Woo said in the Total Film podcast that they want to adapt the entire trilogy.
Well, there’s three novels in the trilogy. The novels get longer and longer so I wouldn't say it maps out exactly to three. We have some really strong ideas about what to do in a season two, and then it’s a little hazier down the line. But we want to get to the end, we want to get to the end of the trilogy, and whether that's three or four, you know, or some other number…
And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Benioff, Weiss and Woo suggested that the season 2 will be better than the first, so there will be something to look forward to, if they can make another season.
So, we'll still have to wait a little longer for an answer as to whether there will be a 3 Body Problem season 2, but the ratings and reception of the TV show are encouraging. As does the fact that Netflix is heavily promoting the production, apparently treating it as one of its more important ones.
