Blizzard Skipped Her Platform; Whoopi Goldberg Resentful For Not Being Able to Play Diablo 4
Whoopie Goldberg addressed an official message to Blizzard regarding Diablo 4. Impatient with waiting for a response, she demanded an apology.
American actress, singer and TV host Whoopi Goldberg has revealed her surprising fondness for the Diablo series, only to demand an apology from its creators for a certain 'mishap'.
Celebrity's disappointment
Less than two weeks ago, Goldberg, 67, issued a public message aimed at Blizzard via a video published on her profile on Instagram. In it, she admitted that she was so excited about the vision of being able to play Diablo IV that she purchased the game without checking its target platforms.
To her misfortune, she only discovered after the fact that the latest installment of the iconic hack-n-slash is not adapted for Apple computers, which are supposedly the only platform Whoopi uses.
"Hey everyone. There are a lot of bad things going on in the world, but what I'm about to tell you is not a problem of the same magnitude.
These are just my thoughts on my favorite game, Diablo, which has been removed from Apple devices. I use Apple computers where I have always played Diablo, it's my favorite gaming system. Suddenly Diablo 4 is not available to me on my Apple computer, and I have already bought the game.
So one thing I ask of you Blizzard Entertainment, as I - Whoopi, you know how much I love Diablo. I would like you to let those of us who use our Apple devices to play, let us play on them. Take Diablo 4 and let us have fun.
When the next release comes, you can tell everyone that people who don't want to switch from Apple devices won't be able to play anymore. Give me my 4, because I paid for it, I was excited, I wanted to play, and I'm telling you it really pissed me off," conveyed Whoopi in the video.
It's easy to say that Whoopi was at fault for not checking whether the latest installment in the series would work on her computer, but accustomed by previous Diablo games, which were available on PC and Mac, she probably didn't even think for a moment about such a possibility.
The celebrity has a platform that gave her any chance to reach out to Blizzard, but we can wonder how many casual gamers who don't follow the industry on a daily basis have experienced a similar disappointment.
Goldberg awaits apology
Today, after nearly two weeks, Whoopi Goldberg returned to the topic of Diablo on her Instagram. The actress admitted with apparent disappointment that since the publication of the first video on the issue, she has not received an official response from Blizzard regarding her complaints.
Her approach to the situation has apparently changed, as instead of renewing her requests for a port of Diablo IV for Apple computers, she demanded a refund and said that an apology was due.
One can infer from the manner of her statement that Goldberg herself did not try to return her copy of the game in the traditional way, however, we cannot fully confirm this.
The new video did not include a response to Morgan Brown's comment under her initial appeal to the Diablo devs:
"Ms. Goldberg, I am very sorry and I love you.
With best regards quest designer Diablo IV."
The woman, however, showed some familiarity with the gaming industry, briefly mentioning the "as yet undone marriage between Microsoft and Blizzard" in response to comments encouraging her to buy an Xbox.
