Netflix's live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender features many new faces who are just at the beginning of their acting careers, especially in the main cast. And certainly one such newbie is actress of Polish-Chinese descent, Maria Zhang.
Maria Zhang plays Suki, the leader of the Kyoshi warriors and the daughter of the lady mayor of a small settlement on Kyoshi Island, in the ATLA live-action series. Zhang is the daughter of a pair of artists, her mother is from Poland and her father is from China. The actress was born in Poland, but a year later her family moved to Beijing, China, and she grew up there. She spent vacations in the country of her birth, where she visited her family and attended meetings of a local theater group.
For it was in Poland that Maria Zhang first became interested in acting after her grandmother drew her attention to a casting call for this theater group. Later in life, Zhang moved to the United States to study at the University of Southern California (USC).

Maria Zhang is a 24-year-old actress who is at the beginning of her journey. The role of Suki in Avatar: The Last Airbender is certainly her biggest, but not her only one. In addition to performing in the theater, the actress has also starred in short films and a web series.

Her role in ATLA will certainly open the door for her to further her career. The actress is already winning the hearts of fans of the series as their favorite Suki, although we've only seen her in one episode so far. In future seasons, however, Suki will have a larger role, so this won't be the last time we see Zhang in the company of Gaang.
