Valve revealed a white limited edition of the Steam Deck OLED 1TB. The handheld will be available in all regions where Valve has been selling the Steam Deck. At the same time, it was noted that this is a one-time action, and when the supply runs out, we shouldn't expect the white Steam Deck OLED to return. By the way – Valve is supposed to be prepared for the actions of scalpers.

White Steam Deck soon for sale

The white OLED Steam Deck will launch at the same time in all regions – on November 18th, 2024 at 3 p.m. PST. Valve is preparing a limited edition of the device, which will be proportionally distributed among regions. In some countries, there will be a larger supply of the white Steam Deck, while in others, the supply will be more limited.

Despite this, Valve wants as many interested people as possible to have the chance to buy the device. That's why certain restrictions were introduced (we kept the original spelling):

To ensure that as many customers who wish to purchase a Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White can get their hands on one, we are restricting purchases to 1 unit per account. To make a purchase, your account must be in good standing and have a purchase on Steam before November 2024.

The new Steam Deck OLED model is white-gray, and a color-matched case and screen cleaning cloth are also included in the set. The specification will be identical to the Steam Deck OLED 1 TB, but the limited edition will be more expensive – it has been priced at $680.

The same spec means the limited-edition Steam Deck OLED won't have a larger battery, which could come in handy given the popularity of Baldur's Gate 3. On X, user Cromwelp reported that the latest game from Larian Studios is very popular on Steam Deck – players have already broken the barrier of 17 million hours played (counting all users in total).

The white Steam Deck OLED might be one of the few opportunities to get any new device from Valve. The producer isn't working on Steam Deck 2 because it is waiting for the technology to develop – it wants to create a next-generation platform. However, the device itself is still being developed. Leaks appeared in the summer suggesting that the Steam Deck will be able to support Android apps.
