What's in Store for Jujutsu Kaisen After Manga Conclusion. Here's Everything We Know About Future of the Series
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has ended, but that doesn't mean fans won't get new material from the series.
Together with the premiere of chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the manga has come to an end. Gege Akutami said goodbye to his characters. Fans have been able to follow this series since March 2018, when the first chapter of JJK appeared on the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. But does the end of the manga mean the end of the entire franchise? Not necessarily, as it is still being developed in other areas and that is what we will focus on here – what else we will get from the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
New episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen anime announced
So far we have received a prequel movie and 2 seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen anime. The latter, however, covered only 6 out of 10 major arcs from the manga, so there is still a lot of story to be told in the series, which is still being developed. There are still 4 arcs left to present, including 2 of the longest ones - Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown.
The creators announced that a 3rd season of Jujutsu Kaisen will be made as well, currently in development. Fans will see the screen adaptation of the Culling Game storyline in it. For now, however, it is not known when the new episodes will be released - the creators have not even given an approximate premiere date, which means we will have to wait a while for the series to return.
A new Jujutsu Kaisen movie is on the way
In the animated version we will see not only the new season but also a new movie. Unfortunately, it will not tell a new story, but will once again present the events from the Hidden Inventory arc, which appeared in the second season of the anime. Fans should not be discouraged, however, as the movie may be an opportunity for the creators to develop certain issues from this storyline, which in the anime were covered only by 5 episodes. It is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025, but for now it is limited to Japan, and it is not yet known whether a worldwide premiere is planned.
Will there be a sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen?
Many people are probably wondering if there is a chance for a sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen. The main series has ended, but many Shonen series have received sequels in various forms, so fans are curious if Gege Akutami is still preparing anything from the JJK universe.
Although after the manga finale, there were a few unanswered questions left and there is room for a continuation, no information has appeared about a sequel being made. Editor of JJK some time ago cryptically mentioned that there is "even more [Jujutsu Kaisen] ahead of us", but it is not known what exactly this could refer to. At this time, there is no official information that a sequel is planned.
