Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara both starred in Modern Family. Before meeting on the set of the sitcom, the actresses had not previously interacted with each other, which meant that Bowen, watching Vergara when they were about to read the script for the first time with the entire cast, allowed herself to judge the book by its cover, and at first didn't have the best opinion of the other woman.

Recently during an interview with People Bowen talked a bit about her experience on the set of Modern Family, while mentioning how she formed a mistaken opinion of Vergara before she even had time to meet her. The actress thought that the other actress playing Gloria would be a “drama.”

I remember that I went to that first table read and was so worried that Sofia was famously beautiful and she has this of sort of an outward character. And I thought, “Oh, what if she’s drama?” I was embarrassed that I even thought that. I was like you know what, never think that about a person again. She's the most warm, intelligent, loving, supportive person and the fact that she's gorgeous and smart as hell... Too bad, people, it's real.

Bowen quickly realized how wrong her first assessment was, and Vergara turned out to be a “warm, intelligent, loving, supportive person.”

It is worth mentioning here the alleged conflict between the women, which was reported by the media and which Bowen denied, explaining that the two get along very well with each other, and that their conflict was the invention of people looking for sensation and trying to pit them against each other.
