Watch your back, for Phantaruk is coming

Phantaruk, a sci-fi FPP survival horror made partly by people previously working on Layers of Fear, is on it’s way, heading to PC this September.

Some folks from The Farm 51 (Get Even), Bloober Team (Layers of Fear), Reality Pump (Two Worlds II), and Tate Interactive first joined their forces to create Polyslash Studio, and then put their heads together – so that Phantaruk, a futuristic sci-fi survival horror, could be born. And now – here it comes, straight from the terrifying depths of an abandoned spaceship, greeting you with an official trailer.

Phantaruk will tell a story of Purity-02 spaceship, or rather – of a man that’s been kept onboard after being captured by H+ Corporation, which – as you’d expect from a survival horror – fancies spending its working hours tearing people apart, experimenting with their flesh, and so on. A first-person, claustrophobic adventure will find the protagonist playing a game of hide and seek with Phantaruk, a mythical beast that somehow managed to infiltrate the spaceship, becoming the most deadly of its threats. Right after it finished consuming every egghead around, that is.

The game will encourage you to explore Purity-02 in a number of ways. You’ll need to track down special syringes containing some kind of magical mixture that will allow you to… live, basically. Phantaruk will also provide you with darkness, and I mean – lots of darkness, that can only be dispersed by a flashlight. Flashlight, on the other hand, will require energy in order to work, so constantly monitoring it’s battery level should do the job of keeping the darkness at bay, and yourself – in (fairly) good shape. Apart from that there will be some notes and audiologs – touching upon an unsolved secret of the spaceship – scattered around, and an atmosphere-fueling score composed by Draco Nared.

Plus, if you’ve ever dreamed of seeing yourself in a proper game (but couldn’t quite figure out how to create a close-enough-to-reality San Andreas model), Phantaruk devs are here to the rescue. Just follow the rules listed on their website, and maybe it will be you who becomes the most accessable character ever.

Now sleep while you still can, and prepare your spine to get chilled sometime in September. Phantaruk will debut on Steam, later coming to Mac and Linux. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are to be announced.
