Was Star Wars: Empire at War 2 in the making? Unannounced Start Wars RT footage leaked
It seems that Electronic Arts had been working on an unannounced Star Wars RTS until it was canceled. A short footage from the project has leaked online.
A gameplay footage from an unannounced, apparently cancelled Star Wars real-time strategy emerged online via an alleged ex-Electronic Arts employee, Elise Baldwin. Her LinkedIn profile reveals that she actually worked in EA on an unannounced game from 2014 to 2015. The video shows off tactical combat on Tatooine with X-Wings, TIE Fighters, The Millennium Falcon, Stromtroopers, and Luke Skywalker cutting down enemies with his lightsaber.
Other than the video, however, there is little information on the title – could that have been Star Wars: Empire at War 2 or a brand new project? I guess we’ll never know. The now deleted video had been originally posted on Vimeo (screenshot captured by All Games Delta). Its description reads:
“I was the audio director on this unannounced title which did not make it to marketplace. It was in development for over a year, during which time it went through three platform/engine pivots. It featured a simulation mode and a tactical combat mode. This video was part of a vertical slice demo illustrating the combat mode.”
Star Wars fans are currently waiting for at least three video game projects: the recently announced action adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, another Battlefront (or its VR spin-off), and Visceral Games’ action sandbox coming in 2018.
