There's Hope for New Anti-cheat in Warzone, but Player Reception is Mixed
Raven Software has lightly hinted in a recent social media post that a new anti-cheat may be coming to CoD: Warzone. Well-known insider Tom Henderson confirms that something is afoot. Gamers, however, have mixed feelings.
- Raven Software published a post on social media saying that they are listening (to the players) and that it is going to reveal the results of its hard work on Warzone soon;
- It was also reported that 50,000 accounts were banned today;
- According to insider Tom Henderson, it may be about the new anti-cheat system;
- Reactions of the players to these revelations are rather mixed.
The infamous distinctive feature of CoD: Warzone is the significant population of cheaters on game servers, spoiling other people's fun. From the very beginning, the players have complained about the ineffective anti-cheat system, which enables many cheaters to get away with what they do. Raven Software sent a signal that gives hope for changes in this area.
In a tweet published today, the devs boast that during this day alone 50 thousand cheaters were banned. And while this is an impressive number, the community is unimpressed - "cheaters will make new accounts anyway and the fun will start again," the players seem to say. A flame of hope may be sparked by a sentence about listening (probably to the voice of the community) and hard work, the results of which we'll know soon.
Optimists translate this as the announcement of a new anti-cheat solution, but many people say that such a late action will change nothing, which was expressed in comments under Raven Software's tweet:
"The important thing is that they said "we are listening". You guys should have started "listening" MONTHS ago!!! I appreciate the step forward, although these bans do absolutely nothing. I hope you guys know that."

In the comments attention was also drawn to the words of a well-known industry insider, Tom Henderson, who has already provided a number of leaks regarding, among others Battlefield 2042 and GTA VI. In his words, the new anti-cheat has been in the works for over a year and will be featured in both the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard, as well as in Warzone
Revelations regarding the popular shooter did not escape the attention of Reddit users, where Henderson's post is widely commented. The comments from the players are mostly cold and skeptic:
"I cant wait for when its released and its just a screen before the title screen that asks if you are cheating and a either a yes or no option."

"Are you cheating"
No.
"Are you sure? Are you really really not cheating?"
No.
"Pinky promise?"
Okay you got me, I'm cheating.

These two humorous comments capture the essence of gamer (and ex-gamer) attitudes towards Warzone. The users don't really believe that what the developers are doing will make a difference. Some say that even if the system of catching cheaters was actually good, it may be too late to introduce it because the game will soon be "dead" anyway.
"Everyone on Twitter is saying it’s not coming till Vanguard, three months from now, game will be dead by then."
- user spdlyy
One thing is for sure, Raven Software will have to rebuild player confidence in the aspect of punishing dishonesty. Will the new anti-cheat system help with that? Time will tell.
