Warzone Got a New Anti-cheat; It Worked Only for a Few Days

For a time, it looked like Activision finally started dealing with cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone. Cheaters themselves started complaining about the wave of bans. Unfortunately, this success was short lived.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • CoD: Warzone received a new anti-cheat;
  • For a moment it eliminated the problem of cheaters in the game;
  • Unfortunately, cheat creators quickly found a way to bypass the protections.

Problems with cheaters have already become a token feature of Call of Duty: Warzone. We've heard about successive waves of bans for a long time, but they weren't able to stop cheaters from spoiling the game for other players. Usually the culprits just created new accounts and continued playing. Recently, however, Activision announced that their game will be getting a new anti-cheat system. As you can see, this time the operation was a temporary success, and the life of cheaters has indeed been seriously hampered.

A measure of success of the new wave of bans are the complaints of the cheaters themselves, who suddenly lost the ability to continue playing in Warzone. One of them is TikTok user rushman360, who published gameplay videos using cheats on his profile. In one of the videos he revealed that all his accounts were banned. Even those he never used were not spared. An account which he had just created was also automatically blocked. Thus, in his recording he stated that this is the end of cheaters in Activision's shooter.

Unfortunately, this situation did not last long. The EngineOwning.to team, responsible for creating cheater software, quickly found a way to bypass the new security measures. All they had to do was to change the ID of the device the player was using every time they used such programs. Cheaters such as rushman360 quickly returned to recording their games and getting on the nerves of other players. It seems that the competition with cheaters in Warzone is a classic example of tilting at windmills. We can only hope that one day the situation will change for more than a few days.
