Warcraft director Duncan Jones is back with a new project. This time he worked on an animated film, Rogue Trooper, which, interestingly, was created on the Unreal Engine 5, used primarily in games – Fortnite, for example. The Witcher 4 is also expected to be developed on it.

Rogue Trooper is an adaptation of comic books by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons published by 2000 AD. It will tell the story of 19, a subjected to experiments soldier that is sole-survivor of an invasion force. His only goal is to track down and take revenge on the traitors who sold him and his comrades out. 19 can count on the support of three members of his crew who were killed in action, and their personalities are stored on biochips in his gun, helmet and rucksack. It will be a sci-fi film, set in the distant future, where brutal war is taking place on the planet Nu-Earth.

The movie’s cast includes Aneurin Barnard, Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Daryl McCormack, Reece Shearsmith, Jemaine Clement, Matt Berry, Diane Morgan, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield and Sean Bean. Jones is not only the director of Rogue Trooper, but also the screenwriter.

Duncan commented:

2000 AD offers a very different flavor of comic action: Political and brutal at times, but always with a Pythonesque twinkle in the eye. Dredd was a taste of what 2000 AD has to offer and now we get to show the world another side of the beast. It is a genuine privilege to be given the opportunity to make Rogue Trooper.

As of now, the release date is unknown, but the first still from the film has been revealed:
