Victoria 3 Finally Announced
Beloved by hardcore strategy fans, the game is back - Paradox Interactive announces Victoria 3. We were able to see the game at the PDXCon Remixed show.
It’s been over a decade wait, but players will eventually be able to get their hands on Victoria 3. The sequel to the 2010 historical grand strategy game was announced to the public at the end of Paradox Interactive’s PDXCon Remixed.
Just like its predecessor, Victoria 3 takes place during the Victorian era and lets you build a nation through various historical events in the 19th century. This time around, you can choose from over 100 countries like Prussia, Great Britain, and Brazil as you manage all aspects of their development from economics to politics to industrialization.
Warfare inevitably took place during this time, and Victoria 3 will let you handle these events as you wish either with diplomacy or by combat. A new Diplomatic Play system allows you to do just that and offer countries something in return for what you want from them. You can then offer something or simply threaten them with your armies. These can either end in a compromise or all-out war.
New Interest Groups can also sway your government as some will push for higher taxes or a focus on religious pursuits while others may want you to focus on trade and education. These groups can change the overall makeup of your country and can truly affect it from within. And as history would tell us, revolutions can also be born if you don’t actively manage your citizens effectively.
The last installment came out over a decade ago so Victoria 3 has received a fresh UI, a colorful map interface, and lots of tabs to keep you organized as you manage all aspects of your nation. There are plenty of new features being added and more will be shared as the game continues to develop.
Victoria 3 promises to be a hearty, complex sim yet easy enough for any beginner to learn to enjoy. The game doesn’t currently have a release date and is still in development.
