Vanishing of Bugs Bunny May Herald the New Game From Warner Bros
The disappearance of Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry may herald the imminent announcement of Multiversus from Warner Bros. Games.
Leaks on Multiversus, an intriguing fighting game featuring Warner Bros. characters, remain a plausible rumor, but a rumor nonetheless. However, recent actions by the company point to their imminent confirmation. Numerous Twitter accounts associated with WB-owned brands are publishing tweets informing about missing cartoon characters.
The list of missing animated celebrities includes Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny. All three (or rather two, since according to the leaks, the cat and mouse will act together as one character) were supposed to be fighters in Multiversus. Interestingly, Warner Bros. Games responded under the first of these posts, posting a well-known emote. While in the second, the author directly referred to the studio. So either all three will receive their own games, or we'll see them together in a new production - for example, the alleged Multiversus.
As a reminder: Multiversus is supposed to be a fighting game with platforming elements in the vein of Super Smash Bros. It's hardly surprising, as the most popular representatives of the genre in history belong to this series. The latest installment, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has already sold over 25 million copies. On the one hand, the title owes its success to gameplay that epitomizes "easy to understand, hard to master", and being easily the most ambitious crossover game in video game history on the other. It also helps that SSBU is also a little less brutal than your typical fighting game (at least on the surface; the PEGI 12 age rating didn't come out of nowhere).
It's the latter two aspects that can be particularly tempting for publishers. We had proof of this with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, although so far the game has not gained much publicity. Perhaps the lack of characters that younger viewers would recognize (apart from SpongeBob and co., of course) did its job. Warner Bros. wouldn't have had this problem, because who doesn't know Batman, Bugs, Shaggy and Gandalf, not to mention "younger" favorites like Rick Sanchez?
Of course, these are still just rumors and speculations. For now, we're waiting for possible confirmation of Multiversus' existence by Warner Bros.
