Long Gameplay From Cancelled Version of Vampire: Bloodlines 2 Leaked
Extensive gameplay from the cancelled version of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which Hardsuit Labs worked on, has leaked online.
In September we are to see the latest incarnation of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Now, however we can check out how the edition of this project, which Hardsuit Labs worked on for years, looked like.
All thanks to a leak of several minutes of gameplay from an abandoned version of the game. A now-deleted post on Reddit suggested that someone from Hardsuit Labs was responsible for the leak. Unfortunately, the original version of the video has already been removed, and the only one still available is the one with the youtuber's commentary:
The quality of the footage is low, but the whole thing gives a pretty good idea of the direction the project was heading. We can see there, among other things, exploration, character screen, combat and dialogues.
Recall that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was announced in March 2019. At that time, Hardsuit Labs was working on the project, and the release was expected in 2020. Unfortunately, the game encountered considerable problems and suffered a series of delays.
At first it seemed that these were typical industry delays forced by a slower-than-expected pace of work. However, it soon became clear that the problems were much more serious. In 2020 creative director Ka'ai Cluney and head screenwriter Brian Mitsoda were dismissed from the team. The latter was a veteran of the first Bloodlines and many fans viewed his involvement in the sequel as a guarantee that the project would remain faithful to the original.
This was not the end of the bad news. Shortly thereafter, the project's senior storyline designer Cara Ellison resigned from the project.. Attempts to save the game were made by hiring screenwriters known, among others, from Mass Effect: Andromeda, but in the end nothing came of it. Over two years ago Paradox took the project away from Hardsuit Labs and handed over to a new developer. Since then Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 went off the radar. It was only a few days ago that the publisher announced that the new incarnation of the game will be shown in September this year.
