Vampire Bloodlines 2 Continues Vision of First Part with Action RPG Twist. „People Who Have Seen It Talk About Dishonored”
Paradox's deputy CEO has commented on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. The game is expected to continue the vision from the first installment.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was announced back in 2019 and the game has come a long way since then. Unfortunately, it has been delayed again recently, although it is reportedly in very good condition. Now Mattias Lilja, the deputy general director at Paradox, has spoken out about her, revealing what we can expect.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, he admitted that the game is developing quite well, although changing the studio during its production was "a pretty drastic step." He mentioned that he himself is a fan of the World of Darkness universe, and when playing Bloodlines 2 feels that he is really in it. The game as a whole is meant to be a continuation of the vision from the original game, but The Chinese Room "had to give it a personal character".
People who have seen the game are comparing it to Dishonored. So it's more of an action RPG, but very steeped in history in the sense that you are a vampire in the World of Darkness.
This comparison will certainly make some people happy, but others may react quite the opposite. On the one hand, the Dishonored series is, after all, comprised of brilliant productions (almost perfect examples of immersive sims) whose gameplay style may be a good fit for a vampire simulator. On the other hand, conservative fans may be expecting a game more similar to the original released in 2004.
Interestingly, last September, The Chinese Room reported that the combat system was initially inspired by the Dishonored series, but underwent some changes over time. However, it seems that the team managed to retain a lot from the original plan.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will debut (hopefully) in the first half of 2025 on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
