Valkyrie Elysium - Successor to Classic jRPG Series Coming to PC, PS5 and PS4
Square Enix has announced Valkyrie Elysium, an action RPG that represents a new iteration of the brand started by Valkyrie Profile.
One of the games announced during yesterday's State of Play presentation turned out to be Valkyrie Elysium, a jRPG belonging to the brand launched in 1999 by Valkyrie Profile.
Valkyrie Elysium - highlights
Fans of the series had to wait long for a new installment. The previous one was the 2009's Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume. After that we also got Valkyrie Anatomy: The Origin, but it was a low-quality mobile spin-off.
Here's what we know about Valkyrie Elysium:
- The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
- The PC version will be sold on Steam.
- The release will take place this year.
- The game is developed by the Japanese studio Soleil, the authors of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.
- The publisher is Square Enix.
- The music will be composed by Motoi Sakuraba, the creator of the soundtracks of previous installments of the series.
- Yuya Nagai is responsible for the character designs, having served the same role for NieR: Automata and Granblue Fantasy Versus.

Story
We will play as a Valkyrie who will be sent to a world heading for destruction. Her goal is to discover what is the cause of the approaching Ragnarok and recruit warriors who will help her in this task.
Mechanics
The game will be an action RPG. Unlike previous installments where we could only move in two dimensions, Valkyrie Elysium will offer free exploration of a three-dimensional world.
During the adventures a key role will be played by recruiting Einherjars - fallen warriors who will be summoned during battles.
Technical aspects of the PS5 version
On PlayStation 5 Valkyrie Elysium will run at 4K resolution and 60 fps.
