Valheim With Ice Caves and Improved Performance on Steam Deck
Valheim players can now explore ice caves. They have been added to the Mountain biome and for now are only available in the test version of the game. The patch also significantly improved the game's performance on Steam Deck.
The development of Valheim continues. Developers from independent studio Iron Gate have promised that they will celebrate the first birthday of the game throughout February, and apparently they intend to keep their word. Two days ago they released patch 0.207.15 - so far its content has only been available in the test version of the game, but soon it should be available for everyone.
HOW TO ACCESS VALHEIM'S TRIAL VERSION?
To download patch 0.207.15, please find Valheim in your game collection on Steam, right-click on it, select "Properties" and then the "Beta" tab. In the text field that appears, type (preferably paste) the password: yesimadebackups.
As the password indicates, it is worth remembering to back up your save files beforehand, as the save data from the test edition of the game may not be fully compatible with the full game.
New content in Valheim
The main attraction of this update are ice caves, which we wrote about back in October. They have been added to the Mountain biome. In essence, this is a whole new dungeon, where we can encounter unique enemies (i.e., a bat, a cultist and an ulv, which is a creature similar to a werewolf, a bit like fenring), find new gear (the three-piece Fenris set), weapons (Flesh Rippers) and crafting materials, as well as participate in the "You stirred the cauldron" event.
Improvements and enhancements
In addition to fresh content, players can expect a handful of fixes or improvements. These include the interface, Nomap mode or an annoying bug that made it difficult to collect items stored in one stack when we had a full inventory. The full list of changes can be found here.
Full controller support and improved performance on Steam deck
It is also worth mentioning that patch 0.207.15 introduced full controller support. What is more, after installing the update there should be no problems with running Valheim on Steam Deck, about which we wrote a month ago.
