Valheim Hits 5 Million Users; Devs Share Interesting Facts

The team at Iron Gate announced that it has sold over 5 million copies of Valheim, the hit survival online game that debuted in Steam's Early Access a month ago.

Valheim continues to conquer Steam. Devs at Iron Gate boasted that the game's sales have exceeded 5 million copies. This impressive result was achieved in just a month from the release - the game debuted in early access on February 2, this year.

The creators also shared some interesting stats. So far, fans have spent 15,000 years in Valheim and watched 35 million hours of gameplay streams from the game on Twitch. In addition, the title climbs the ranks of the highest rated games by Steam users. It currently occupies position number 39, boasting 123 thousand player reviews, 96% of which are positive.

Iron Gate has only five people (although there are plans to strengthen the team with additional employees), so the creators joke that currently it's one million copies sold per each of them.

Recall that the devs reported exceeding 2 million copies on February 15. Four days later it was already 3 million, and on February 24 it was announced that the threshold of 4 million was reached. The game hasn't left the first place on Steam's bestseller list (based on revenue) for four weeks straight.

Valheim sells faster than other hits from the category of online survival games. Two months after its release, Rust boasted a million buyers, while ARK: Survival Evolved needed a month to reach that number. DayZ, on the other hand, needed more than a year to cross the 3 million threshold.

Valheim's current activity record is over 500,000 people playing at the same time and it was set on February 21 of this year. This is one of the five best results in Steam's history.
