Valheim Devs Suffering From Success; New Content Delayed

Valheim's great popularity is a reason for joy for the developers, but also a problem. The influx of players delayed work on new content.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Henrik Törnqvist commented on the popularity of Valheim;
  • The number of players was a surprise and a cause for joy, but also a problem;
  • It resulted in delays in work on new content.

The success of Valheim is undeniable. The game occasionally achieves new recordsand impresses with community's projects. The game's popularity is certainly a reason for joy for the creators. As Iron Gate's co-founder Henrik Törnqvist revealed in an interview with Fanbyte, it also raises some problems.

“Yeah, no, we didn’t go in thinking this was possible We actually had to slow down the roadmap for the game. [...] I’m just looking forward to kind of seeing it through in the short term, which is definitely sort of getting to a point where we have squashed all the major bugs and can start talking about the first update and stuff like that.”

So, apparently the influx of players has made the elimination of some bugs and minor issues a bigger priority than new content. As Törnqvist previously said: "The whole team is working on fixing all the bugs that come to light when you suddenly have a million people playing your game." However, we have to admit that problems of this nature are certainly easier to swallow than lack of people willing to play. The developers are also clearly planning further development of Valheim, which manifested itself, among other things, in the publication of a whole roadmap introducing additional content.
