Vader Returns to Star Wars, Played by Hayden Christensen
During the Thursday's announcement-packed Disney conference, Lucasfilm's boss presented new info on Star Wars: Obi-Wan. She confirmed that together with Evan McGregor we will see Hayden Christensen, who will reprise his role as Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker.
Disney's Thursday investor call proved that the company will rely even more strongly on the Star Wars brand in the coming years. Apart from the announcement of a new film directed by Patty Jenkins, the giant confirmed that it plans as many as ten series set in the universe. One of the projects that will be the quickest to appear in the offer of Disney+ is Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, a series conceived in considerable pains. During the event Lucasfilm's boss, Kathleen Kennedy, presented new and interesting details about the show.
Kennedy announced that alongside Evan McGregor, who will play Obi-Wan Kenobi again, we will also see Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The size of Christensen's role is not known yet. However, the action of the series takes place ten years after the fall of the Jedi Order and the official establishment of the Galactic Empire. So the actor will play Darth Vader, but we will also see him in the flashbacks, which will utline his relationship with the former master a bit better than in the movies.
The shooting for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will start next year. The project will be directed by Deborah Chow, previously working on the first season of The Mandalorian. The series will be released on the Disney+ platform in late 2021 or early 2022 at the earliest. The producers are planning only one season.
