Ubisoft's Mark Rubin gave a nod to XDefiant fans pointing out people complaining about matchmaking. Apparently, these players have been affected by an affliction known as the „skill issue.”.

A Ubisoft representative confirmed what some internet users had suggested: players who complained about XDefiant's matchmaking not giving them "easy opponents" are easy targets themselves.

Mark Rubin, the executive producer of the new shooter from a French publisher, is another creator who is gaining popularity within the community (although players aren't deterred from criticizing certain decisions made by his team). Like some other developers, the American is highly engaged on social media, interacting with comments and activities of XDefiant players.

One of such posts (via X) concerned the issue of matchmaking. Just a reminder: many people were pleased with the decision to abandon the skill-based matchmaking system (SBMM) in non-ranked games. However, some players have complained about not receiving "easy" games, meaning those in which they outplay the opposing team.

The response from other players was blunt: people who counted on "easy opponents" weren't as good at FPS games as they thought. Rubin forwarded a popular post on the topic, briefly expressing agreement with the thesis.

In another post, the dev also ridiculed accusations that XDefiant used a "script" that made it difficult to kill some players, such as popular streamers. Rubin bluntly called it "the stupidest thing he has ever heard."

The developers have also confirmed that a map inspired by the Far Cry series, called Signal, is coming to XDefiant. We also know that the developers are also working on improving the network code, particularly the hit detection system (hit registration, or hitreg) and restricting "bunny hopping."

However, Mark Rubin stressed on X that "netcode" problems can be influenced by "over a thousand factors" and developers need to investigate all of them. In other words, we may have to wait a long time for major improvements.
