Ubisoft CEO Asks Employees to Help Keep Company Afloat
Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, has sent an email to employees asking them to cut the company's spending and help it get back on its feet.
Ubisoft's financial forecast update for the 2023 fiscal year, published last Wednesday, revealed just how poor a state the French giant is in at the moment. Poor sales of recently released titles, another delay of Skull and Bones and the cancelation of three projects blatantly show that the developer is struggling. Interestingly, however, CEO of the company - Yves Guillemot - seems to be running away from responsibility for such a state of affairs and is asking employees to spend wisely.
Ubisoft's CEO sent a rather specific email to employees, in which he asks his subordinates to cut expenses and pull the company out of the crisis. We learned the content of this message thanks to Kotaku.
“Today more than ever, I need your full energy and commitment to ensure we get back on the path to success. I am also asking that each of you be especially careful and strategic with your spending and initiatives, to ensure we’re being as efficient and lean as possible.”
Recent years have been quite bumpy for Ubisoft. The company is now notorious for large and repeated postponements of its titles. Probably the best examples of items that suffer consecutive delays are The Settlers: New Allies and the aforementioned Skull and Bones. In addition, the French giant recently broke a rather infamous record for the longest-developed big-budget game. Beyond Good & Evil 2 was presented for the first time in 2008, and until now we don't know when the space adventure game will hit our hands. Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft is in need of change.
