Tyranny dev discusses character progression, combat and setting in an E3 gameplay presentation
Watch Tyranny E3 gameplay presentation to learn more about Obsidian's next RPG's core systems, such as character progression, combat, role of companions, and more.
There is a nice Tyranny E3 Twitch gameplay footage that you may have missed (like we did) posted on Roleplaying TV YouTube channel. In it, a member of Obsidian Entertainment discusses their next game’s key gameplay features, such as character progression, combat and weapons, role of companions, world structure, and more.
Tyranny is a role-playing game set in a fantasy world where the evil won and is now taking a firm grip over the remaining population. The player will become an officer under the new ruler, who will have to impose new rules on the empire’s inhabitants. Although being a not-so-bad guy will be possible, it will also make the gameplay harder. Tyranny is to offer about 25 hours of gameplay, but the devs promise much replayability thanks to different factions’ questlines and choices that can change entire locations.
The interesting thing is that unlike in Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny’s character progression will be skill-based instead of class-based. Another new feature are companion combos – it will be possible to combine different companion skills into one powerful attack. The game will offer a wide array of companions, so you will be able to assemble your perfect team.
Tyranny is due out this year on PC.
