Total War: Pharaoh Players Praise Devs for New, Nearly Double-Sized Map
Fans of Total War: Pharaoh are pleased with how the game's map will be expanded in a free update.
Creative Assembly Studio provided further details about the changes aimed at the studio's latest game. First, the devs of Total War: Pharaoh explained how the campaign map will be expanded in the upcoming free update. The details are revealed in a post that can be read on the publisher's official site.
After the rebuilt, the world of TW: Pharaoh will almost double in size: from 1134 x 1648 hexes to 2048 x 1648 hexes. An extra 168 villages were also included (in addition to the existing 181 settlements) along with double the number of factions (increasing from 95 to 189 factions, although their count may still change, and more information about them will be revealed in the next CA post). So, players will have something and someone to fight with.
The developers also suggested the possibility of sea routes (as a fast travel system), rivers, and specific landmarks on the map, ranging from temples to Mount Olympus. Furthermore, many elements of Total War: Pharaoh will be updated to work with the new, expanded game map.
The new map has clearly delighted players, although some are questioning whether it was initially intended as part of a planned DLC and only changed by the developers after the bad reception of Pharaoh. The mention of playable civilizations suggests that developers intended to include them, but player feedback "was instrumental in helping us [devs] implement them in a more informed way."
Nevertheless, fans appreciated that despite poor sales, the developers were't abandoning the Egyptian Total War (via Reddit / Steam / Creative Assembly forum). Players are also happy that, after a period of disappointment, the development of the latest installments of Total War finally seems to be in line with the wishes of the communities gathered around these titles.
We still don't know exactly when these and other new features will arrive in Total War: Pharaoh.
