Todd Howard Revealed Starfield Modding Tools Release Date
We have learned when we should expect the release of official modding tools for Starfield.
Since the release of Starfield, PC gamers have eagerly started making mods for Bethesda's space RPG. This is going remarkably well for them - the number of mods for the game on Nexusmods will exceed 1.4 thousand, any moment now. For now, however, fans are severely limited in their creativity, because they are still waiting for official modding tools. Now we have finally learned when we can expect them.
- The information appeared in an interview that Bethesda head Todd Howard, gave to the Japanese magazine Famitsu.
- Howard stated that the release of modding tools will take place next year. They are expected to enable the players to do almost anything they dream of in the game.
Skyrim and Fallout 4 - how long have we been waiting for official support for mods
The head of Bethesda unfortunately did not give a specific release date. So it's worth recalling how things happened with the studio's previous games.
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim received the so-called Creation Kit in February 2012, that is, three months after the release.
- In contrast, in the case of Fallout 4 the open beta of modding tools was launched five months after the game's debut.
The developers have repeatedly stressed that they are keen to continue supporting the modding community, so we expect them to release tools for Starfield as soon as possible. We are betting that it will be the first half of 2024.
Full support for mods is extremely important in this case, as Bethesda is a rare case of a studio among AAA single player game development teams doing such things. Fans manage to make modifications for most new high-budget games, but these are almost always small projects, changing some modest element of the setting or gameplay.
In contrast, the tools provided by Bethesda are usually so powerful that they make it easy to create new content, including additional adventures. Cyberpunk 2077 has admittedly received the RedMod tools, but they do not enable you to create your own stories.
