There are No Plans to Increase Price of Game Pass

Phil Spencer from Microsoft informed that there are no plans to increase the price of Xbox Game Pass subscription. The service is already sait to be profitable for the company.

The Xbox Game Pass service is a very attractive proposition. By paying a subscription fee between $4.99 and $9.99 per month, we gain access to more than a hundred games, among which there are many novelties. The offer is so good that many people were wondering whether Microsoft is going to increase the subscription price in the future. It turns out that there are no such plans.

This information was provided by the head of Microsoft's games department, Phil Spencer, during the Dropped Frames podcast. He revealed that the service is already profitable and currently the company does not plan to increase the Xbox Game Pass subscription fee, as it is not necessary.

Of course, this declaration should not be taken as a lifetime promise. Sooner or later the price will surely be raised. Spencer's statement is interesting for another reason. It suggests that Microsoft already earns money on the service, either exclusively on it or at least in combination with the positive impact it has on the sale of its consoles.

The upcoming addition of the EA Play service to the Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate version) offer was also discussed, which is scheduled for November 10. This will significantly strengthen the choice of games available in the subscription, while not increasing the fees. Spencer explained that this is some kind of experiment to see if such partnerships make sense.
