The Riftbreaker With Impressive Sales Results and Roadmap
The Riftbreaker has already sold over 200 thousand copies. The creators also revealed what improvements and novelties we can expect in the first year of the game's development.
- Fixes;
- New methods for repairing and upgrading groups of buildings;
- Better balance of weather events and high difficulty levels;
- New biome with additional locations, creatures and mechanics;
- Network co-op mode.
The Riftbreaker ranked fourth on Steam's bestseller list of the last week. Now we know the scale of its success. Szczecin-based studio Exor boasted that the sales of their newest production exceeded 200 thousand copies.
The creators do not hide their joy and admit that the situation surprised them a lot. Currently, they focus on fixing the flaws that caught the attention of the players. Further development of the project is also planned. We can expect new methods of repairing and improving groups of buildings, as well as better balancing of the weather events system and the highest difficulty levels.
In addition, work has already begun on an additional biome, which is to offer very different locations, previously unknown creatures and new gameplay mechanics. The team is also working on a networked cooperative mode, but it's a big project, so we should expect it only in 6-12 months.
The Riftbreaker was released on October 14 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Thanks to backward compatibility, the title can also be played on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The result of 200 thousand copies sold applies to all versions of the game. It is worth adding that separate versions for next-gen consoles are also planned, but we'll have to wait for them until next year.
The Riftbreaker is not only selling well, but is also appreciated. On OpenCritic the game has an average rating of 81%. On Steam, in turn, 91% of user reviews are positive, which the service categorizes as a "very positive" reception. In both cases, these are the best results in the history of the developer.
At the hottest moment of the first weekend after the release, The Riftbreaker was played by 21,741 people at the same timeon Steam. This is also the game's activity record.
