The Outer Worlds Still Getting Fixes; Patch 1.2 Goes Live
The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition received quite a few performance and stability fixes with patch 1.2.
Refreshed version of The Outer Worlds has lived to see another major patch. Update 1.2 has already hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The full list of changes is posted on Private Division's official website.
Developers were said to have improved animations and optimized graphics settings on consoles, as well as fixed bugs causing the game to forcibly close on PC. They also eliminated some of the glitches causing the application to freeze and... levitating grass. In addition, they replaced the dynamic resolution scaling system with AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution technology.
Update 1.2 is another attempt to fix the "improved" version of The Outer Worlds, for which the developers had to apologize. Remaster performed disastrously, running much worse than the original release, even on the most powerful PCs.
To this day, only about 32% of reviews left on The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition's card on Steam are positive. This is still a significant improvement over the ratings at launch, but still not something for the developers to be proud of. As is the fact that after more than a month the number of reviews is still relatively low (480 at the time of publication of this text), which may indicate little interest among players in the remaster.
It remains to be hoped that the patches will eventually improve the game's performance to a decent degree (and not introduce other bugs).
