The Outer Worlds: SCE Launches; Controversial Upgrade to 2019 RPG
In a few hours The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition will debut. Players on Steam disliked the fact that owners of the original will have to pay to access the upgrades from the new edition.
The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition, the revamped version of the popular RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, will launch today.
- The game will debut on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.
- The game will be unlocked in digital stores at 5 p.m. CET.
- The PC version will be available for purchase on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.com.
Spacer's Choice Edition is expected to offer improved lighting and upscaled textures. We will also get additional animations and improved performance. The increased character level cap should prove to be a big attraction.
It is worth mentioning that the edition will include the basic version of the game and all the DLCs, i.e. Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos.
Players do not like the fact that they will have to pay extra
Unfortunately, the improved version of the game will not be made available for free. To enjoy these improvements, current owners of The Outer Worlds will have to pay $10. Players clearly did not like this, as can be seen from reviews of the original on Steam. Counting all of them from the day of release, 84% praise the game. However, if we consider only those from the last 30 days, only 56% are positive.
Recall that the first incarnation of The Outer Worlds was released in October 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In turn, the game saw a port for Nintendo Switch in 2020. The game met with a warm reception, receiving an average rating of 83% on OpenCritic. Our editor, was a bit more critical, giving the game a rating of 7 out of 10.
