- Improvements in lighting system and camera work.
Bloober Team released an update for the horror game The Medium. The patch is numbered 1.1 and focuses on improving the technical aspects of the game.
The patch improves optimization and fixes many bugs, including those causing the game to freeze. The devs boast that they have fixed all reported problems of this type.
Many scenes have been improved in order to remove shortcomings related to the lighting system and camera work. Interactions with characters have also been improved. Moreover, with the patch 1.1 the game should run faster with ray tracing enabled.
The first reactions to the update are anything but enthusiastic. Players report a lack of noticeable increases in performance and large fps drops in some scenes. They also complain about the fact that support for 21:9 displays has still not been added, although in this case it is difficult to talk about a surprise, because the developers announced the lack of this feature before the release. From more positive things, users report that a bug causing texture flickering has finally been fixed.
The Medium was released on January 28, this year. The game was released only on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The tile is also available in the Xbox Game Pass subscription, both on consoles and PC.
The game was met with rather warm reception. The PC version has an average rating of 76% on Metacritic. In the case of the console edition it is 71%. Our editor appreciated The Medium a bit less, giving it 9.0/10.
That said, the Polish horror seems to have fallen to the liking of gamers. On Steam, 87% of user reviews are positive. Moreover, the game turned out to be a big commercial hit. The game broke even a day after launch.
