The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Release Date and Gameplay Footage
The developers from Daedalic Entertainment presented new gameplay footage and information about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The developers have also specified next year's release date for their work.
We learned about the existence of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum in early 2019. Daedalic Entertainment is responsible for the development of the title, which was based on the events presented in Tolkien's works. Today, the developers presented a new trailer for the game, in which producer Harald Riegler presented further details about the gameplay, illustrated with some in-game footage. We also learned that the title will launch in Fall 2022 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Let's add that originally the game was supposed to hit stores within the next few months, but in January the devs were forced to postpone the release.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an action-adventure game with stealth elements. We play as Sméagol/Gollum, who roams the Middle-earth alone, starting from the wilderness of Mordor and ending with the forests belonging to the elves and the mines of Moria. The plot will cross paths with the important events from the history of Tolkien's fantasy world, so during the campaign, we'll encounter many well-known characters, such as Gandalf, as well as some characters only vaguely mentioned in the books.
During the game we'll be climbing and sneaking, most of the time trying to remain completely unnoticed by anyone. However, if the opportunity arises, Gollum won't hesitate to launch a surprise attack, using every dirty trick in the book.. In the game there's also a variety of platform challenges, as the devs drew inspiration from many other games with parkour elements. During the game, we have to make various decisions affecting the course of the adventure. The split personality of the main character will decide about our actions.
