The Last of Us Remake Will Not Be a Cash Grab, Says One of the Developers
Robert Morrison, one of the developers working on The Last of Us Remake, decided to respond to the high price and the reason for the remake.
After Sony accidentally leaked its latest (old) game, The Last of Us Remake got an official announcement at Summer Game Fest 2022. Many fans welcomed the announcement of a remake of this popular title.
Why the remake and why so expensive?
As it turns out, not everyone understands the need for a remake of this action adventure game (which was vividly discussed on Reddit). Many are also not very happy with its high price, which is USD 70 (this has also become the subject of disputes). One of the developers working on The Last of Us Remake stood up for in defense the project by saying that the remake of Naughty Dog's work is not a "cash grab"..
Actually it’s the most meticulously built and crafted project that I have ever seen or been a part of in my entire career. The highest level of care and attention to detail possible," Robert Morrison wrote on Twitter .
You want it - pay, you don't want it - don't pay
The developer also addressed the issue of the price of The Last of Us Part I Remake. He reminded that developers have no influence on the price of games and each player will make their own decision regarding whether they want to buy the title.
TThe price of the game is out of my control and worth is subjective to each individual. You can decide for yourself if you want it or not. All I’m saying is I am in awe of the work that an amazing group of people did on the project. A tremendous amount of passion was put into it," he wrote.
It is sad that people who have dedicated several years of their lives to the remake have to respond to hostile comments from gamers, even though they are not the ones who decide the price of the game they are developing. As Morrison wrote, it is up to each individual to decide whether he or she wants to spend about 70 dollars on the game..
When can we preload The Last of Us Part 1?
Although the release of The Last of Us Part 1 is fast approaching, we still don't know much about the game. While we wait for Sony and Naughty Dog to reveal more details about the remake, we are left to rely on other, less official sources.
Thanks to @PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, we know when the preload of the game should begin. According to the information, the remake will be available for preload as early as a week before its release, on August 26..
The Last of Us Part 1 will be released on PS5 on September 2. A PC version is also in the works, but there is no set release date yet.
